Greenhead itself offers plenty of local amenities: a tea room directly opposite the cottage, The Greenhead Hotel a few doors down serving pub meals, and a farmers’ market held on the second Sunday of each month.

Just a few miles away, Haltwhistle offers a variety of independent shops, eateries, takeaways, and small supermarkets. The town prides itself on being the "Centre of Britain" and is well served by transport links, including a mainline train station and local bus routes. Haltwhistle also offers a cottage hospital, doctors’ surgery, library, sports centre with swimming pool, and an excellent selection of pubs, cafés, and restaurants.

Nearby attractions include three castles: Blenkinsopp and Bellister (ruins) and the well-preserved 14th-century Thirlwall Castle. The Roman forts of Housesteads and Vindolanda on Hadrian’s Wall are just five miles away.
